LJ Stamps his Authority as a Lyrical Beast with his 25-Track Maiden album, KILL

Accra the capital was brought to an existential standstill as Lyrical Joe LJ finally unveiled the much-anticipated album, KILL in grand style.

Albeit the notice being sent out just a few days prior to the launch, it was heralded in the tabloids nationwide kind courtesy, all the bloggers who believe if budding talents in these parts.

True to its billing, the event commenced as stipulated time (even though it was affected by a little Ghana Man time factor) on the agenda of the day. DJ Benks who was very phenomenal on the turntables set things in motion with a classic playlist of LJ tunes. Next was the rolling out of a few music videos by LJ.

The show quickly dovetailed into a lituation stage when the man, the myth and the beast, LJ arrived at the venue amidst thunderous cheers and applause from a lot of patrons present.

After a brief address by the CEO of Boom Entertainment and gHalatrava Records, Mr Yaw Boateng aka Boom, an interaction between LJ, the Press and a short film titled “Journey to the KILL album” fans and patrons were thrilled to an amazing performance.

The beast took his time to blend his unmatched lyrical dexterity with his surreal touch of stagecraft which oscillated audience on different levels of exhilaration with classic performance doing 8 songs on the album nonstop. What a beast!

Out of generosity from LJ and his management team, the video of “Make I Talk” was exclusively premiered to the joy of patrons which was quickly followed by signing and presentation of the KILL album to each and everyone present climaxing the event of the night.

The MC, Mr Nana Forson was in top form and very phenomenal with his dispensation. He deserves some major accolades.

Ahara Studios inside Spintex in Accra was where the history was written.

A Cursory Look at the KILL album

KILL is an acronym for KING IN LIMELIGHT, a phrase which although is believed to be self-explanatory, also draws a multifaceted inspiration from the challenges and mediocrity he (LJ) had to KILL (surmount) while growing up. According to Lyrical Joe, the maiden album is not just mind-blowing, but will also stamp the President of the Lyrical Republic as a final authority and of course a special alternative to the traditional cliche of African rap or hip-hop albums filled with worship materialism, negativity, and women objectification that we have become accustomed to. “Consider KILL! a mind detoxification project and you will not be far from right”,

The album which features household rap heavyweights like Flowking Stone, Gemini, Guru and other upcoming artists including DDT, ToffDawg, and Shaike from the camp of gHalatrava records has 25 tracks my personal favourites More Blessings, No Body Dey & 5th August and others are already laying claim to the airwaves.
