University Of Ghana Roll Out Online Teaching & Learning, Give Students Free Internet Access

Management of the University of Ghana has reached an agreement with Vodafone Ghana to provide students with zero rate access to UGs online learning platform.

The approved proposal will allow students to continue the rest of the 2nd semester, approximately 7 weeks of teaching to take place online using the University’s Sakai Learning Management System.

UG’s online teaching schedule is expected to begin from the week of 30 March 2020 and will run for the remaining seven weeks till the week ending 15 May 2020, unless the Universities open earlier than this date.

This proposal becomes necessary as a results of the University’s closure due to the number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

“While the University community continues to observe social distancing to minimize community spread, we are also obligated to utilize alternative platforms to ensure that students complete the courses for which they signed up for, hence, Management’s decision to leverage our electronic resources in this direction.” the statement said

Management is however working with other telecom companies to guarantee free access to Sakai LMS platform for all students.
