The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, The Ghana Tourism Authority, Office of Diaspora Affairs(Office of the President) together with The Diaspora African Forum has today, June 5, 2020, held a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of George Floyd.
George Floyd is the 46-year-old black man who died in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes while Floyd was handcuffed face down in the street.
However, the Government of Ghana today held a ceremony in his memory at the forecourt of DuBois Centre in Accra.
The ceremony was to pay homage and also show solidarity to the family of Floyd and the Africans in the diaspora.
It was attended by some few people including Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi, the minister for tourism arts and culture.
